- Get rid of distracting mannerisms
- Don’t call attention to your notes
- Never apologize
- Arrive early when you are speaking
- Practice your speech within a specified time limit
- Eliminate audible pauses (uh, um…)
- Speak at the appropriate volume for the room
- Enter contests
- Read your speech out loud several times beforehand
- Take a deep breath… enjoy yourself
