10 Tips And Tools From a Toastmaster

  1. Get rid of distracting mannerisms
  2. Don’t call attention to your notes
  3. Never apologize
  4. Arrive early when you are speaking
  5. Practice your speech within a specified time limit
  6. Eliminate audible pauses (uh, um…)
  7. Speak at the appropriate volume for the room
  8. Enter contests
  9. Read your speech out loud several times beforehand
  10. Take a deep breath… enjoy yourself
